Procedure for portrait commission

I usually require two or three initial consultations. During the first consultation we discuss the details of the subject or subjects: how the subject is to be
portrayed, including issues such as formality, clothing, background and size of painting. We can discuss working with photos that you already have, if you prefer, or at this time we can decide that I will take photos of the subject myself.

During the second consultation, I will either look through photos that you provide, or I will take photos of the subject in several poses and formats. I will bring preliminary sketches of the ideas

that we discussed in the first session and we can settle on a general composition at this time. We will also agree on a final price, which will vary depending upon the complexity of the background, size of the painting and any other additional elements, and a 1/3rd deposit is required.

In the third session I will bring two or three sketches developed from the photographs taken. After choosing the final pose, more photos will be taken of the subject in that pose. At this time another 1/3rd deposit is
required.

The portrait will be completed in two to three months for a single subject. Before the painting is delivered to the client, a photo of the completed portrait will be sent to the client for approval. The final 1/3rd payment is due upon delivery.

Framing, shipping and travel expenses for the artist are the responsibility of the client.

Pencil Portraits
11 x 14	head and shoulders	one person	$250

Additional Costs:
Additional figure or head and shoulders		50% of cost of painting
Complex background		Additional $500 (oil)

For your convenience, payment can be made through PayPal using the charge card of your choice. When we have agreed upon your price you will receive a PayPal invoice from me via email for the progress payments when due. You may make your payment directly to PayPal.

Alternatively, you may send a check or money order, rather than make payment on-line.
